James Watson and Francis Crick published the first accurate model of DNA in the journal, Nature.
The Human Genome Project officially began. Francis Collins was selected as the director of the U.S. National Center for Human Genome Research. Dolly the sheep, the first cloned animal, was born. The first human chromosome was sequenced. President Clinton signed an Executive Order to prevent genetic discrimination in any federal workplace. The entire human genome was officially sequenced. President Bush signed into law the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008. |
